Blog Question Challenge 2025

my indieweb bestie and yin to my yang, flamed. tagged me in the tagged me in the blog question challenge, originally asked by ava. i'm hella late, but writer's block has been real lately. thank you, flamed! <3

i'm gonna tag some 32-bit cafe members:

Why did you start blogging in the first place?

i think everyone should have a blog, if not an entire website. having somewhere that your self-expression is unabashedly on display and discoverable by others, i think, is an important part of understanding people and especially those you don't get to interact with regularly.

i wasn't sure about getting back into blogging at first. i, too, struggle with having what i think on display, like many others lamenting in their own blogs. flamed actually pushed me to do it again. i was fired up about wanting people to make their own websites. i had opinions about the personal web, communities, and some lifestyle things. but i knew i wanted to be able to talk about personal things as well: milestones, things i want to remember and revisit. in a way, i'm my own audience, always checking in with my past self to see how much, if any, has changed.

What platform are you using to manage your blog, and why do you use it?

i use bearblog! i love using small web projects rather than corporate or commercial ones.

Have you blogged on other platforms before?

yes! i had a wordpress blog for a very long time. (cue chaosgoat ribbing on me for my views on wordpress now!) i also had a livejournal. i think i had a blogspot for a day (i hated the themes) and used blogger at one point.

How do you write your posts?

frankly, it's a stream of consciousness. i go back through and spot-edit, but for the most part, it's just words flowing from my brain directly into the keyboard. i come up with a topic idea and list it in my phone, then just fire off when i feel strongly enough and feel like i have enough thoughts to write.

When do you feel most inspired to write?

late at night! i usually don't sit down to actually write something until i've gone through the day, finally able to think about other things outside of what i need to get done.

Do you publish immediately after writing or do you let it simmer a bit?

i sometimes let it simmer if i feel like i need to read over it again before posting, which is usually the case when i feel like i am making a Takeâ„¢. otherwise, i usually give it a once-over for typos and then publish.

What's your favorite post on your blog?

i want to designate no tech saviors as my favorite. only because it's really the first post i made that challenged folks with something that could be perceived as negative. i wanted to draw attention to those that, despite having good intentions, end up having a negative impact with their actions. i think it's a reminder of intent-versus-impact: consider the impact of your actions rather than reiterating the intent.

Any future plans for your blog?

i'd like to continue blogging but on a regular schedule. i'm hoping for a blog club soon for prompts. :)
